Considering the size of the global pet products market last year*, Russia’s share may account for between 2.5% and 3.5% of the global market.
Growth in companion animal food production is estimated at nearly 9% for 2025. While this figure falls short of the previous year's rate, it remains considerably above the pace recorded in 2022–2023. Notably, 2025 saw no significant expansion of manufacturing capacity. At the same time, output of feed supplements declined following a sharp surge in 2024. Below we examine how these diverging trends combine to form an overall picture of the market — and what the pet nutrition sector can expect going forward.
Russia's pet food imports recorded modest growth in 2025 for the first time since 2022. Exports of Russian companion animal diets also increased.
In 2025, the pet products category maintained its status as a resilient consumer spending item in household budgets. At the same time, the structure of market growth became more “mature”: e-commerce growth slowed, offline retail accelerated, channel shares continued to redistribute, and competition for shelf space and repeat purchases intensified.
