«ParkZoo 2019» - going straight ahead!

From September 18 to September 20 Moscow Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre hosted the 9th ParkZoo International Pet Industry Specialized Exhibition. This exhibition made one more step forward by setting the following new records: two new pavilions were added, and due to this, the exposition area increased by 10%. The number of participants has increased as well: this year 275 companies were represented at the exhibition.

Portrait of Exhibitors and Visitors

The registration survey showed that over 12,000 people in total (25% being the exhibitors' staff, and 75% being visitors) took part in the exhibition. At that, the retailers attracted the largest share of visitors (34.17%).

The citizens of 52 countries were among exhibitors and visitors this year. The proportion of foreign exhibitors was 14%, whereas that of foreign visitors was 5.3%.

Russia was represented by all federal districts but more than a half of such representatives were the residents of Moscow and Moscow Region (69%).

About half of the survey respondents said that it was the first time they participated in the ParkZoo Exhibition.

Business Program

As usual, the ParkZoo Exhibition had an intense business program.

The Union of Animal Industry Enterprises Autumn Forum attended by 218 people was held the day before the official opening of the exhibition. Its participants discussed the issues vital for the industry, which included legislative changes under preparation, and peculiarities of work of animal hospitals.

Corine van Winden, Editor-in-Chief of PETS International Magazine and Global PETS Forum organizer, gave a presentation about pet industry breakthroughs, which had already influenced the industry, or will influence it in the future.

Yulia Dolzhenkova, CEO on International Affairs of Zooinform Web Portal, delivered a presentation in English for foreign visitors, which was devoted to the Russian market of pet products.

Russian Small Animal Veterinary Association, with support from Hill’s, held an autumn veterinary conference. It was devoted to diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases of dogs and cats.

DOG-PROFI Academic and Educational Project organized a conference for breeders, where the issues of pet dentistry and pet genetics were discussed.

Valta Pet Products certified business coaches held a session of Business Mafia interactive business game specially designed for pet shop salespeople. During the game session, analysis was made of typical errors resulting in the decrease in sales, real case studies addressing claims were considered, and other topical issues of retail industry were discussed.

ParkZoo 2019 hosted the 8th GROOMINGFEST Grooming Festival. Its program included workshops on grooming cats and dogs, expert consultations, and prize draws. The festival also hosted the EGA “Show Grooming for Dogs” International Grooming Competition, and the “Pet Grooming for Dogs” All-Russian Grooming Competition. The festival was organized by Milord Company, CJSC.

Mobile Application

A mobile application for participants was for the first time used at ParkZoo-2019. It contained the necessary information about the exhibition: its program, list of exhibitors, and layout of pavilions. The participants could use the app to get acquainted with each other, to appoint a business meeting, to contact the organizing committee, and to get help. The app function of quick notification of current events and exhibition activities became very popular.

New Products Showcase

One more ParkZoo tradition is New Products Showcase representing the most innovative, significant, and interesting products that had appeared in the Russian market over the past year.

This year the contest featured 106 new products. The participants could vote through a mobile app, where they could choose only one position in each category that they liked. The winner was determined by a simple majority of votes. In 2019 the winners are:
